Insurance is a legal way to cover one's risk. It is a type of contract where an insurance company agrees to reimburse the insured in case of loss of the insured due to some unforeseen circumstances in return for receiving premium at a fixed rate. The history of insurance business is 100 years old. At present there is a business worth several thousand crores in our country centered on this industry. With the growth of insurance customers in Bangladesh, the number of insurance companies is also increasing. As a result, employment opportunities are being created in the country. There are currently 43 general insurance companies and 16 life insurance companies operating in the Bangladesh market. Hundreds of thousands of educated young people are working in these insurance companies.


An insurance agent is also likely to be an agent first and then a MO manager, assistant controller, deputy controller, JAVP, AVP, VP EVP and most recently the managing director of the company. Different organizations use different titles. This profession has the opportunity to work in full time and part time. There are many opportunities to build a career in the insurance industry in Bangladesh. Earlier it was thought that only boys could come in this profession. But over time, that is likely to change. At present boys as well as girls are becoming interested in this profession.


Type of work

The main job of insurance companies is to create policy customers. And this is what the insurance representatives do. The job of an insurance agent is by no means a desk job, but a field job. Clients will not come to the company unless the insurance agents find them and ‘knock’ them. For this we have to work in the field. The type of work in this profession is a lot like a sales job.


The company sets a target for the insurance representative to have a specific insurance policy every month. However, this goal must be determined by the organization based on the qualifications and abilities of the candidate. The main task of an insurance agent is to make the insurance policy and create the client as per the target set every month.


In this case, the insurance representative presents various policies offered by their company keeping in mind the needs of the customer. Also, before making an insurance policy, give the client an idea about all the information related to it (such as: insurance policy type, benefits of insurance policies, terms, premium payment rules, etc.) The job is to do an insurance representative. The calculation of the target of an insurance agent starts as soon as the insurance policy is accepted.

An insurance agent must report to the office twice a day according to the organization's schedule. Once in the morning before starting work and again in the afternoon to finish work. Every day you have to take part in a one hour meeting or training program before starting work. In this meeting, the supervisor discusses, plans and gives instructions on how to do some work, which clients to meet, how to succeed in any work if it fails.


After the morning meeting, the insurance representatives went out to the field work. Clients who need to be met are scheduled in advance by contacting them. The appointment list with the clients is made in such a way that an insurance representative can meet approximately eight to ten clients in one day. After contacting the clients all day, they have to attend for the second time in the afternoon. At this time the insurance representative has to submit the account of the day's work, success-failure report to the supervisor.


Training

Relevant insurance companies provide training to a candidate in the insurance industry to develop him as a qualified insurance agent. First, an insurance representative is given three to seven days of specialized training by the company. These trainings provide detailed information about the company's various neon laws, types of work and policies. As a result, anyone is able to start a career as an insurance agent.


Educational Qualifications

Anyone who wants to start a career as an insurance agent must have a bachelor's degree in any subject. However, in the current job market, candidates with a master's degree are preferred for this position.


Skills

If you want to be a successful insurance agent, you must be hardworking and patient. Only then can you see the face of success. Also smart, confident, communication skills, honest, respectful at work, adaptable to any environment and situation very fast, ability to persuade or reason people, present intelligence, quick learning mindset, energetic, farsighted and field work The mind must have the mindset.


Earn income

If the fresh graduates are recruited, they will be able to earn 18 to 30 thousand rupees from the beginning depending on the institution. If you can show good performance, you will be promoted quickly. If promoted, the salary can be up to 30-35 thousand rupees.


In addition, the companies offer various bonuses, allowances, incentives and increments to the insurance agents. Delegates are encouraged in various ways to create policy subscribers every month. Many times motorcycles are also provided by the company for the convenience of work.
